We are a generation
Of losers and loners
Living with FOMO
Of things we don’t need
We are a generation
Of trends and fads
And crazy things
We don’t understand
We are a generation
Of blood and chrome
Love beyond material
We seldom seek
We are a generation
With screens and screams
Of information overload;
Highly prone to get bored
We are a generation
Of contradictions and lies
Facing bleary futures
But with hope in our eyes
We are a generation
Of imposters and gurus
Who’s fake, who’s not
We fall for what’s not true
We are a generation
Comfortable sans identity
Trained to be cynical
In the world of virtual
We are a generation
Of jubilant highs and crushing lows
Like a trampoline in heavy use
Trampled by life’s hues
We are a generation
Trying to find meaning,
Trying to fit in,
While taking it all in
We are a generation
Who don’t know if they
Have it good or bad
It’s all rather sad
We are a generation
Extremely confused
One time we are sinking
The next time we sail through
We are a generation
With unaccomplished dreams
But eyes filled with gleams
And yes, endless memes
We are a generation
Surrounded by spectacles galore
Believing only what we see
We retreat before we even explore
We are a generation
Of hopeless romantics
And vicious catfishing
The internet makes us frantic
We are a generation
Of startups, software jobs
We write code
We debug logs
We are a generation
Of Twitter tantrums
And LinkedIn show-offs
We live in the clouds
We are a generation
Lost to social trends
We live in isolation
Hoping to make real friends
We are a generation
9 years old for eternity
But we must deal with loss
We live in a society
We are a generation
So confused
Criminals roam with pride
Innocents accused
We are a generation
Of sinners and parishioners
Bound by social norms
Unable to become seekers
We are a generation
Of burgers and chocolate syrup
But come what may, politics or pandemics,
We never ever give up!
We are a generation
Of posthuman embryos
Crowning as digital empathizers
Emerging as humans humane
We are a generation
Smitten by internet kittens
We seek mittens
And meows in return
We are a generation
Of weebs in disguise
We live in our rooms
(Mostly just the guys)
We are a generation
That resides in the social regime
Making the meme world supreme
Neglecting to smile in the metallic jungle
We are a generation
That overcomes terror
That accompanies fervor
In trying to empower
We are a generation
That lives on the edge
That dreams of stars
And builds castles in the air
We are a generation
That runs, that strives
That seeks to achieve
A bit more with our lives
We are a generation
Born too soon to explore the stars,
Born too late to explore the Earth,
Born just in time to read this verse
We are a generation
Of thrills and chills
And hashtag YOLO
We live, not just to pay the bills
